The Day Jesus Saved Me From Being Robbed and Shot

The day the name of Jesus saved my life.   My Sisters and I at Meiran- Ijaiye. I am the one in Yellow. See, Meiran Ijaiye was the most quiet place I ever lived. The area was plagued by thieves and an irresponsible government. There were bad roads and robbers who killed vigilantes. In all the years I lived there, I never believed I could be accosted/harassed so all warnings flew out the window every time I leave my house.  I would even use my phone as a torch en route to work.  That day,  I left my old apartment by 4:30am I used to leave by 3:30am or 4am so that I can get to the work which was on the Island on time.  On my way, I looked up and saw a man wearing "face cap" and "my good girl born in Yoruba land" nature kicked in. Good morning sir, I said. No response. I hurriedly moved a few paces from him only to hear: Freeze or I will shoot you. People of God, I froze o because I saw that he had a gun. I froze and I thought I would die ...

Let's Forget About The Government For A Minute, How Do You Treat Your Gateman?

Sometime ago, I lived in a compound that employed a Nigerien as gate man/security guard. His name was Abdul. He was friendly, spoke clean aboki English and would run errands only if you reward him in cash.  After living in that compound for a few weeks, I discovered that the room Abdul slept in was unpalatable. He had a terrible mattress, rain and Sun beat him there. The landlord refused to fix the room. His duties were to wash every tenant's car, run errands and to open/close the gate. I would watch in despair every time he brings out his mattress for the sun do dry after a heavy downpour and "pack" water from his "apartment". Worse, some of my co-tenants refused to pay their dues to him. The monthly contributions we paid were his salary.  Abdul came to me after a few months of being owed.  Abdul: Welcome madam, abeg I wan tell you something. Me: Wetin happen? Abdul: I wan tell you wetin I never tell anybody for this compound. These pe...

Single With A Difference

I am graciously single, yes, but with a difference and I will prove it with some words. I turned 30 in December 31, 2017. Since then, I have been living a life filled with gratitude, reminiscing and being thankful to God who brought me this far. I vividly remember being hungry and walking the streets of Lagos so I can't fathom why or how God raised this girl from frying Akara in Pen Cinema Agege to being an Executive Assistant to one of the most respected CEOs in Nigeria. I have had the privilege of working with CEOs without applying or sleeping with anyone to work with them. I never applied or expected to work with my current boss. God has been faithful to me. I remember training with the Nigerian Legion for a security job after my stint with Akara at Pen Cinema, Agege only to be posted to the floor of the Executive Directors of Tell Magazine. The  change of status came when they asked my then boss to release me from my contract so that I cou...

My Song of the Moment: Fell in Love by Travis Greene Ft Dante Bowe

I know I should explain my reasons for picking this song as my song for the moment but I would rather let the lyrics which I got from  http://www.gmusicplus.com/lyrics-travis-greene-fell-in-love-ft-dante-bowe/  say the words for me: On the edge, of a cliff Nothing below but tragedy At the end, of my self Nowhere to go But down found here I feel the weight I feel the turn Of my sins And gravity keeps pulling me down And i deserve it But Your hand block the ground I fell in love o o Fell in love o o Fell in love o o Fell in love o o What is love Nothing is right Take a look, no fantasy In my world, in this life Nowhere to go but down from here I feel the weight I feel the turn Of my sin And gravity keeps pulling me down Oh i deserve it But Your hand block the ground I fell in love o o I fell in love o o Fell in love o o (I fell in Your grace) Fell in love o o (I fell in Your mercy) Fell in love o...

VERY CLEAN LAGOS #CLEANERLAGOS

Warning: Please be advised that the pictures in this post may be offensive. These pictures were not manufactured. I took them myself. From Iyana Ipaja, Oshodi, Mushin to Ikoyi, trash cans with dirt spilling everywhere have become a reality in Lagos State. My beloved beautiful City😭😭 is now a city of dump sites.  I have never seen Lagos this dirty since I was born.  I admit that BRF(Babatunde Fashola) is a tough act to follow but must you undo all his policies to make your own name?    Biko, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode do something!!

WOMEN OF THE GOD KIND 2018 CONFERENCE #WOTGK2018

My White Dress to #WOTGK As expected, the #WOTGK2018 conference held on March 17, 2018 was mind blowing. The theme was tagged INTIMACY.  Intimacy with God.  The event was free. After registering in February, I was preparing for the event but then saw a post on their Instagram Page saying that this year's code is white. Even though I wanted to wear their customized T-shirt and then drag on my jeans 😉😉, I welcomed the change but remembered that I would have to shop for a white dress. I dismissed that thought.  I do not have time to shop neither am I a fan of online shopping. So I put on my favorite white dress... Team mate turned Bestie I mentioned the event in passing to my team mate in Church and she asked to be invited. As Santuary Keepers, we help in cleaning the church on Saturdays so we knew we would need a change of clothes for the event. After Sanctuary keeping that morning, we changed our outfits and moved to Covenant U...

EZE CHIMA'S BIRTHDAY!!

Hello Guys, Today is my my brother's birthday. I shared a couple of words, lol, on my Facebook page and I decided to share it here. My dad died in 2015 and as painful as his death was, we barely talk or think about him because he left my family in the good hands of  Eze Chima . We buried our dad gloriously via the grace God gave to him. The Efiwe as a Teenager The age difference between us isn't much but the respect I have for my big brother right from our childhood is huge. Same goes for my siblings. Believe me, they fear/respect him (They;  Adanna Chima   Iamjai Chima   Gabriel Chima  ,etc don turn me to mediator/lawyer for this family). I became a science student because he was one but failed woefully while he passed in flying colours as usual  😀 😀 😁 😁       and of course this our Dad graduated before he turned 20  😐 😐         Efiwe!!  Thank you sir, for all you do for us. For sacrific...

My First Day In Ikoyi Prison

Hello guys, I was led to join the Prison Ministry in my church many moons ago. I had a desire to help people in many ways by providing resources,  my time, etc. Serving there has been a blessing.  Ikoyi Prison Entrance My first experience at Ikoyi Prison, Falomo was enriching. I left home early to avoid the usual Third Mainland Bridge traffic so that I could make it to the Prison and join my team mates on time so I was feeling drowsy. I was surprised when my team mate said I should not worry that the sleep would disappear as soon as we step in. She was right. I forgot the sleep and was emotional all through our stay/service. Before we entered the facility, we were thoroughly searched. Azzin!! Head to toe something. No phones allowed. No sharp objects either. Then I saw the men.  There were so many men. So many hungry and hopeful gazes at us. We were led to the Church, yes, there are two churches and a mosque in that facility. I was impressed an...

How God Leads Us Today By Bishop Oyedepo

Hello Guys, I was at our(Living Faith Church Worldwide) Midweek Service Last Night. Having read his book Understanding Divine Direction, I put two and two together and was able to take notes that I wanna share. A lot of us are divided on life issues. I shake my head when I see headlines on Tithing and why we should pay or not pay.  Questions like "how do I know he is the one" comes up on every blog/social media. I hope the notes that I took from the service will help. It certainly helped me. You can also hear/watch the message via this Youtube Link For How God Leads Today Sermon By Bishop Oyedepo Sermon: How God Leads Today(March 7, 2018) Texts from  Psalm 23:1-6, John 10:21 What are the requirements for Divine Guidance? 1. Be full of the word of God. To defeat the devil, you must be word loaded to avoid misguidance. God guides us today via His Word or you'd be misguided. Ps 119:105. It is the standard that helps you identify what's not from God'...

My Experience at #WOTGK2017 (Women Of The God Kind 2017)

Hi guys, Jenny at #WOTGK2017 I  started 2017 with a resolve to mingle with people. Go to concerts, shows, events, musicals, you name it. So, when I saw the advert for  #WOTGK2017 conference organised and founded by Joys Oyedepo, I set my calendar for that day. It was awesome. We had a great time in God's presence, I tell you. We also had to privilege of meeting and touching,  our mentors, great women of God; in my opinion. Women like Dr. Ada Sonia, Mrs. Kemi Oyedepo, Nkechi Harry Ngonadi(NHN), Mrs. Yemi(Joys' former teacher), Joys and my favorite, Mrs. Tolu Ijogun(Pastor Bimbo and Taiwo Odukoya's daughter).  NHN and her runway models. T he conference which was held at the ALDC, Covenant University was the second event since it was founded. I met young ladies from within and outside Lagos.  I made a new friend! I made a new friend. We bonded until we entered the hall before 10am; which was the time the confere...
