Promote Your Business - Digital Marketing

 Yes, you need to promote your business.

I learned big words from Kdrama this week; a more important thing than philosophy in business is effectiveness.

The primary purpose of being in Business is to make money. In this age, you do not need a shop to make money. Don't wait for money to get a shop/stall or business place. Start building your clientele.

If your business is on social media, all you need to increase visibility, sales and therefore revenue are;

  • Take advantage of Instagram And Facebook Business ads. Theyā€™ve proven effective for small businesses I know. So go big on Mark Zuckerbergā€™s marketplace. The platforms have features that give the option of posting your adverts on both platforms and Whatsapp Business.

  • Keep being active on all platforms. Post and post new, existing and old stuff at least three times a day. Some vendors go as far as posting random or old funny clips, thereby keeping their followers and potential clients engaged and entertained.
  • Post positive feedbacks from clients. This encourages people to buy from you. Some will go as far as chatting up your clients. To confirm your(or your products) authenticity. Don't be offended, that is the life you signed up for and in the society we live in.
  • Repost the buyers and users who tag you especially those who consent or youā€™re close to.
  • Post uses and visuals of your Business. Talk about their effectiveness. If they are perishable goods, you can share the usefulness in the body or environment, whichever/whatever is applicable. I have fallen a "victim" more than once.
  • Separate your personal social media account from your Business account. This is one of the basic social media business rules.
  • Use influencers. Social media influencers abound for a token or more. Influencers make a living by being active and engaging on social media. They have the attention of most of the public. Get them to post or use your product/service and see the effects. I am sure you have seen a comedian post video/pictures of food, clothings, houses. Vendors/Business owners pay for those or give them for free based on agreements. You can change them at a whim based on their "effectiveness". Remember to choose those with values and won't cheat you.  Watch the video below to understand the impact of influencers. Rihanna(Singer and Fashion Influencer) wore a dress by a local Barbados Fashion Designer and the lady has been getting requests from all over the world.

  • Do giveaways and give discounts. Giving is living, Bishop David Oyedepo says. You get more than you give in life. In the case of business, people looking for Awoof(freebies in Pidgin) will find you, try your product/service and come back with money. On discounts, people want value for their money but will increase their demand if they know they are buying for cheap. A number of us look out for vendors doing "sales". You can also pick ou

If youā€™ve done and are doing the above, WAIT, they will yield. Consistency pays off.

My First Day In Ikoyi Prison

Hello guys, I was led to join the Prison Ministry in my church many moons ago. I had a desire to help people in many ways by providing resources,  my time, etc. Serving there has been a blessing.  Ikoyi Prison Entrance My first experience at Ikoyi Prison, Falomo was enriching. I left home early to avoid the usual Third Mainland Bridge traffic so that I could make it to the Prison and join my team mates on time so I was feeling drowsy. I was surprised when my team mate said I should not worry that the sleep would disappear as soon as we step in. She was right. I forgot the sleep and was emotional all through our stay/service. Before we entered the facility, we were thoroughly searched. Azzin!! Head to toe something. No phones allowed. No sharp objects either. Then I saw the men.  There were so many men. So many hungry and hopeful gazes at us. We were led to the Church, yes, there are two churches and a mosque in that facility. I was impressed an...

Customer Service Talk with Jane

  The not so huge secret is out! I have been sharing some business tips on this blog but I am more passionate about Customer Service and I am very vocal about this not because of my years of experience working as a Customer Service Executive but because Nigerian vendors like to test our patience and I have experienced too much of it to ignore. I have also been hosting talks on a Whatsapp group for a while now where I share some tips and my Customer Service experience, answer questions business owners have and how to resolve customer complaints satisfactorily. I am excited to share publicly that I will be hosting another Customer Service Talk on March 6, 2022 by 8pm. Attendance is free and virtual(Google Meet) but you have to register. See link below: https://forms.gle/Jp9cTX6fTLNUzpnf6 See you there!

Don't Keep Your Customers Waiting

Feedbacks like the above aren't good for business growth as they discourage other "intending" Customers. You should not keep Customers waiting whether you own a kiosk or a conglomerate.  We have terrible and incompetent policymakers in Nigeria whose policies crumble businesses, but business owners should play their part and ensure they keep their businesses afloat by keeping loyal Customers satisfied.  When you satisfy your clients, they would not leave. They will bring more clients to you saving you the cost budgeted for Advertisement and Promotion. One of the parts you need to play well is to hire willing and loyal staff. I didn't believe tales of few good or employable people until I started helping employers to hire people. The labour market is not encouraging, yes, but you should keep searching. You can use job sites well, give them your requirements and pay the applicable fee needed to get what you want. You can also headhunt after proper due diligence. If you d...
